PNG to JPEG, JPEG to WebP, anything your browser can read to anything it can write. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you ask for it.

Everything re-converts as you change it
Around 80 to 90 is where most pictures stop looking different but keep getting smaller.
JPEG cannot be transparent, so whatever was see-through gets this colour.
Aspect ratio is kept, and a picture already smaller than this is left alone.
More than one image comes back as a single .zip.
Sign in to send a result straight to your account instead of downloading it.
Redrawing the picture leaves the EXIF block behind, so camera model and GPS coordinates do not come along. The rotation a phone records is applied first, so the result is the right way up.
Only formats this browser can write are listed, which is why AVIF appears on some machines and not others. Animation is not carried over: a GIF or an animated WebP comes back as its first frame.
